Yeonju Son( b.1996 )
is Korea born, London based artist, focuses on diverse materials including drawing, painting, sculpture and installation with ideas of transforming, interconnecting, time, and sensitivity - both material processes and existential concerns.
Rooted in personal experience of encounters, separations, and losses in life, the artist strives to capture fleeting existences that transcend time and space through artworks. In this process, she conceptually explores reflection on her life attitude : the works are based on the notion of - a sense of connection, a sense of circulation. Her repetitive actions- scratching, rubbing, drawing lines, deconstructing and reconstructing- captures a moment within change and reveals how those moments accumulate over time. In the end, it became blending boundaries between the space within work, physical space, and her bodily experience, ultimately merging memory, presence, and materiality in the flow.
She studied B.F.A Korean Painting at Ewha Womans University in South Korea, and gained an M.A. degree from the Painting Programme at the Royal College of Art in 2023 in the United Kingdom. Her upcoming show ‘Resonant Silence’ will open in Knokke, Belgium in 2025. And her latest group exhibition shows are ‘EUROSTARZ (Tick Tack, Antwerp, Belgium, 2024), ‘Bomb Factory Christmas show (Bomb Factory, London,United Kingdom, 2023) etc.

손연주 (b.1996) 는 한국에서 태어나 런던을 기반으로 활동하는 회화 작가로, 페인팅, 드로잉, 조각, 설치등 다양한 매체를 넘나들며 변형, 유기성, 연결, 시공간과 감수성에 대한 탐구를 이어가고 있다. 작가의 작업은 단순히 형상이나 감정을 남기는 것이 아니라 삶과 존재, 기억을 마주하는 하나의 태도이자 실천이다.
작가는 개인적 경험 속 만남, 이별, 상실과 공존의 순간을 통해 ‘덧없음(impermanent)’에 대한 개념을 지속적으로 탐색한다. 작가의 작업은 연결성과 순환의 개념에 집중하고 있으며, 그는 캔버스에 페인팅을 하거나 조각을 만드는 과정 속에서 시공간을 넘나들며 존재하다가 사라지는 것들을 기억하고자한다. 이 기억들은 단순한 과거의 순간을 넘어 현재의 공간과 연결되며, 우리는 그 공간 속에서 서로 이어져 있다는 믿음을 갖는다. 그의 작업에서는 반복적인 행위가 중요하다. 지우고, 다시 덧대는 과정을 통해 이 반복적인—긁기, 문지르기, 선긋기—행위는 변화 속에서 순간을 포착하고, 그 순간들이 어떻게 축적되는지 보여준다. 결국, 시간은 흐름 속에서 쌓여가고, 그 흐름이 작업 안의 공간과 물리적 공간의 경계를 희미하게 만든다. 그 과정에서 시간은 단지 흐르는 것이 아니라, 서로 겹쳐지고, 쌓이며, 이어져 나간다.
그는 이화여자대학교에서 동양화 학사를 취득한 뒤, 영국 왕립 예술대학교에서 페인팅 석사를 공부했다. 최근 전시로는 Resonant Silence ( Buysse Gallery, Knokke-Heist, Belgium, 2025), ‘EUROSTARZ (Tick Tack, Antwerp, Belgium, 2024), ‘Bomb Factory Christmas show (Bomb Factory, London,United Kingdom, 2023)등이 있다.
